We’ve all been there—buying a beautiful bunch of fresh herbs, only to watch them wilt in the fridge before you even get to use them. It used to drive me crazy! But then I discovered a simple storage trick that keeps my herbs fresh for weeks. Now, I never waste a single sprig—and trust me, it’s a total game-changer.

The Secret: Treat Your Herbs Like Flowers

It sounds strange, but fresh herbs like cilantro, parsley, and basil love a little TLC—just like a bouquet of flowers. Here’s how I do it:

  1. Trim the Stems: As soon as I bring herbs home, I snip the ends with scissors or a knife.
  2. Add Water: I place them in a jar or glass filled with about an inch of water.
  3. Cover (Optional): For delicate herbs like parsley or cilantro, I loosely cover the jar with a plastic bag to create a mini greenhouse effect.
  4. Refrigerate or Not: Keep herbs like cilantro and parsley in the fridge, but leave basil on the counter—it doesn’t love the cold.

Herbs are like tiny plants—they stay fresher longer when they have access to moisture and air circulation. This method keeps them hydrated and prevents wilting.
