Shrimp Toast is that crispy, savory appetizer that disappears in seconds. It’s a classic Asian-American dish made with seasoned shrimp paste slathered on sliced bread, then pan-fried or deep-fried until golden perfection. Crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside—and totally irresistible. You’ll want to snack on these straight from the pan (guilty). A killer starter or party bite—even in the office snack stash.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a food processor, blend raw shrimp with garlic, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, egg white, and cornstarch until a smooth paste forms.
  2. Slice sandwich bread into triangles or squares.
  3. Spread shrimp paste generously on one side of each bread slice.
  4. Press down gently to help it adhere.
  5. Heat oil in a pan (½ inch depth). Fry shrimp-side down first for 2–3 minutes until golden.
  6. Flip and fry bread side for another 1–2 minutes.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or chopped scallions if desired.
  8. Serve hot with sweet chili sauce or soy dipping sauce.
